Great things are happening at the Library!
Join us in welcoming our new, progressive Librarian- Jocasta of Thebes.
In keeping with our city-wide goal to be the most progressive and successful trade city in Achaia, Helike has decided to make the Library membership publicly available to all who are approved.
In order to obtain a membership an applicant must be a Citizen of Helike. Some scholars and travelers may be granted access with an additional fee and special application process. All anteroom exhibits are of course free and available to the public.
Fees are 10 gold annually due upon first visit to the Library proper.
A Citizen must maintain a positive relationship with the Library or membership privileges may be revoked or demoted.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL ANYTHING BE ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE LIBRARY!
Visitors may engage the services of a Scribe either through the Library or a private Scribe service. Scribes are also subject to the rules of the Library and must be on the approved list.
Some areas containing fragile or sensitive articles will be off limits until a member has satisfied the Librarian that they should have access.
Anteroom
The Anteroom of the Library will have exhibits pertaining to the history and lifestyle of our great City of Helike. These exhibits will change from time to time so please visit often.
This area of the Library is open to the public, no membership required. We ask that you please bathe and refrain from loud or boisterous language.
One must fill out an application for membership before being allowed further into the Library. Rest assured that many effective and creative methods have been employed to insure the security of our collection and the Librarian. There will be no theft or damage to property.
The Citizens’ Library
The Citizens’ Library is the first of its kind on this scale. We intend to expand and become the single largest storehouse of knowledge in the civilized world.
We have employed the services of a new and highly trained Librarian to help our patrons to locate the information they are seeking. Please be very specific about what you are looking for and patient as we locate it. In some rare cases we may have a gap in our material and we will need to organize an expedition to discover or recover this information. In this case, the Library may sponsor such an expedition and members are encouraged to join in. ALL materials from an expedition of this nature are the sole property of the Library!
Special Collections
There are some exhibits within the Library that are of a sensitive nature. Either they are extremely fragile and must only be handled by the Librarian or they are dangerous in some way.
These collections are available to those who have established a good working relationship with the Library.
